Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is an internationally recognized central university located in the holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Founded in 1916 by the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, alongside Dr. Annie Besant, it was incorporated under the Parliamentary legislation of the BHU Act 1915. It is recognized by the UGC, holds the status of an Institute of Eminence (IoE) by the Government of India, and stands proud as the largest residential university in Asia.
